Premiere Pro

I have downloaded Premiere Pro and I have installed it onto my computer. I have discovered some of the articles on the website which I feel will help me when building my video.  One of the articles I have found suggests that a video is all about the way in which you tell the story.  It states on the article that one of the best ways to engage with your audience is by adding emotion. I am going to be doing this in my own video, there will be sound and images that in my opinion will raise emotions, some good and some bad. It also states that the audience will lose interest if there are gaps in the story, this makes sense as some people can often lose interest if they can't quite work out what is going on.  This article has been helpful, I feel I have an understanding now that when I create my video I need to try and ensure that the story has a start, end and a middle, when it comes to my video I have thought about perhaps having the negative stuff at the start, for example the polic

Mark Sleigh

I am involved in a poetry group on Facebook which me and my friend set up just after the first lockdown to keep ours and others minds occupied in these strange times. The page is called 'Write in the middle of the week', we set it up so that people could express themselves and Mark Sleigh is a member in our group.  I got chatting to a person called Mark Sleigh, as I had been talking to my friend about my dissertation and she thought he would be a good person to talk to. She was right.  Mark Sleigh spent a long period of time involved in the free party scene. He spent fifteen years of his life travelling across europe in his campervan and living in squats in London until eventually he fell in love in Berlin. Mark Sleigh became a teacher and began teaching English and settled in the city of Paris. Now living in  Thailand with his family. Mark Sleigh has just published a book it's called 'Those Who Were Dancing: From Rave to the Grave'.  Below are some screen shots fro

Rules/Fines and Arrests

Since the start of the lockdowns this summer free parties have still been happening, in fact they became more and more common over the past few months. People wanted things to do, the lockdowns made it difficult for anyone to do anything with the restrictions that have been put in place. Pubs, clubs and festivals have been put on hold, so the people took to organising they're own events, which meant more illegal raves.  However due to the Covid outbreak things have become more tight, more strict you could say, to keep the safety of people in place, laws and restrictions have changed, police are coming out in force, fines are being issued and people are being arrested. The virus has had an impact on all major events, nobody knows for how long for, it can be rather unsettling to people, especially  people who are in the events business.  I have been researching the new laws and offences that have been put in play for people who have organised or attended events.  On the 23rd of Augus

A brief History of Free Parties/Raves

Image
I have began researching different elements which I am going to be including in my dissertation, I have used a range or sources on the internet including Wikipedia and BBC.  Rave: The term rave arose around the 50s, it was a term used to describe bohemian parties that were considered to be wild and usually involved alternative 'youths' and culture. The next generation of people came around the 60's and they were called hippies, then came the 70s groovers and then from there was the birth of the ravers in the 80s and 90s.  A rave is an organised party which involves dance, electronic music and DJ’S. " A rave is an organised dance party at a warehouse, forest, cave or other private property or public space, typically featuring performances by DJs, playing a seamless flow of electronic dance music." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rave "The expression 'freedom to party' is nothing new; you only need to cast an eye back to  1960s  and  1970s  Britain, whe

Interests and Inspirations

I have been researching different photographers to gain an understanding of other styles and to see if I can take inspiration within my own work. I will briefly go through a few photographers that I am interested in. I want to look at their styles within their photographs so I have kept the information simple.  Adam Friedman documented the people within the club scene whilst living in London and New York capturing the Acid Jazz party goers. Adam Friedmans images caught my attention because of the text that has been added onto the photograph, not to mention the beautiful lighting. In all his pictures a bit of text has been added, it baffled me to say the least because at first I thought perhaps there were descriptions of the people in the images but then some of them did not make sense, so from what I have seen, I am thinking that they are the names of the clubs that the people are in. This to me is a very interesting aspect that adds mystery to his photography.  Adam Friedman's pho
